Imagine a super-capacitor that could store enough energy to run your car for miles. Or your phone, or any other portable device. You wouldn’t have to mess with a chemical means of storage (like a battery) anymore. This is what EEStor is shooting for - the veritable moon. The holy grail.
Not many people outside of the company know much about the technology or the progress. They are keeping things very quiet. But companies like GM have invested in them. And they recently filed a patent that helps protect their discoveries. Commercializing this idea may turn out to be very difficult, but let’s cross our fingers.
